I had my very first root canal done. I wanted to be victorious so I put on the mind of Christ and won the victory! How? Read on
Romans 8:37 – Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Recalling Hebrews 12:2 – “for the joy set before Him, He endured the cross...”, instead of being fearful, I focused on the goal/outcome- my tooth infection would be healed. That removed the anxiety and fear.
Next, I stopped thinking of the actual dentist room in any negative light; recalling Psalm 139:10 I remembered that God is always with me, so beforehand I thought that God will be there with me in that room; I won’t be alone. I’m not going to an unpleasant place, nor a place of pain. My Abba Father will be there.
Then when I arrived I recalled John 14:27 and I had Jesus’ peace spiritually in my spirit and soul. I felt relaxed and comfortable.
When I was ushered into the dentist’s room I took the chair and felt restful and confident. I was friendly to the dental assistant and dentist. There was an Echo on the shelf so I asked it to play Christian classic hymns.
When the dentist started I recalled 1 John 3:1, “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God” and enjoyed Abba Fathers love in my spirit and soul! To know He was there with me and His love was abiding in me was a great comfort and joy to me! I almost had tears of gratefulness!
Before I knew it, it was over! It seemed to be easier than previous drillings I’ve had for cavities. I thanked Abba Father, and knew I had won the victory!
The dentist said, “You did great!” Haha! I said, “You did great!”
I left feeling victorious and had overcome by faith (1 John 5:4)! Overall, it was a wonderful experience! Sure, I wouldn’t want to go again tomorrow, but when I go next week to have the crown done, I’ll walk by faith and be victorious by Jesus’ blood and gain the victory! To God be the glory!
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 1 John 5:4
