Longing to be like David? Read on to see what your missing…
David was exceptional for those in his dispensation of Law. God made him to be a ‘man after His own heart.’ — Acts 13:22
But for all the blessings God gave David, here’s what he lacked (and all other Old Testament people):
- He didn’t even know Christ Jesus.
- He didn’t have “Christ in him the hope of glory” – Colossians 1:27
- He wasn’t indwelt by the Holy Spirit. — Psalm 51:11
- He didn’t know God as Abba Father; only as the LORD — Romans 8:15
- He knew nothing about Grace — Ephesians 3:1-9
- He was forgiven but not justified — Titus 3:7, Romans 3:26, 8:33
- He suffered a terrible judgment of God for sinning with Bathsheba which believers today under grace WILL NEVER HAVE TO SUFFER! — Romans 5:20
- He wasn’t given all the I Am’s.
- He had to do to be blessed.
- He will reign on earth; we will reign in the celestials
We can enjoy David for who God made him to be, and what he did, but please don’t wish to be like him; believers today are blessed soooo much more in this Dispensation of Grace! Please don’t try to live as the Circumcism (under Law) when you’re of the Uncircumcism (under Grace).
If you don’t recognize, believe, or live by faith in this current Dispensation of Grace then Paul has this to say to you (what is a Dispensation?):
- Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. — Galatians 5:1
- Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. — Galatians 5:2
- For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. — Galatians 5:3-4
- Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? — Galatians 5:7
You don’t lose your salvation; but you do lose your understanding and enjoyment of Grace and knowing Abba Father day to day.
God commands us to know, understand, and live in this current dispensation of Grace:
If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power. Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ. — Ephesians 3:2-9
Enjoy God’s grace daily and rejoice! Be thankful and grateful that you weren’t born before Christ Jesus!
